THE GOLDEN CAPSULE - nextpart

The grand showroom of Vance Fine Jewelry was a sanctuary of blinding opulence. Sunlight streamed through the towering crystal windows, reflecting off polished marble floors and casting a brilliant glow on the glass display cases filled with millions of dollars in diamonds. It was a place designed exclusively for the ultra-wealthy, where a person’s worth was judged entirely by the luxury labels on their back.

Madam Beatrice Harrington stood at the center of the showroom, looking every bit the high-society billionaire she claimed to be. Dressed in a flawless cream-colored tweed luxury outfit and clutching a pastel Chanel handbag, she was inspecting a pair of rare emerald earrings. Her sharp, manicured nails tapped impatiently against the glass counter.

Suddenly, a disturbance shattered the quiet elegance of the boutique.

A young boy, no older than nine, had accidentally stumbled through the heavy glass entrance doors. He was a heartbreaking contrast to the luxury surrounding him. His oversized jacket was torn, his hands were stained with grease, and his face was heavily smeared with dark soot and mud. But despite his ragged appearance, he was holding something very carefully against his chest—a small, black velvet jewelry box.

“Get out of here, you filthy little thief!” Beatrice shrieked, her elegant facade instantly twisting into a mask of pure elitist rage.

Before the security guards could even react, Beatrice lunged forward. She grabbed the terrified boy roughly by the collar of his jacket, shaking him violently.

“People like you don’t belong anywhere near diamonds!” she yelled, her voice echoing off the marble walls. She shoved the boy backward into the arms of two burly security guards who had just rushed over. “Don’t let him leave! He just stole from my store!”

The boy whimpered, his eyes wide with fear, but he refused to let go of the black velvet box.

“Release the boy.”

A deep, commanding voice boomed from the top of the grand central staircase. Everyone in the showroom froze.

Walking down the steps with absolute, freezing authority was a distinguished 70-year-old billionaire grandfather. His silver hair and beard were perfectly groomed, and he wore an immaculate, expensive navy three-piece suit with a gold pocket watch chain gleaming against his vest. The security guards instantly dropped their hands from the boy, stepping back in deep respect.

The old man walked straight past Beatrice, ignoring her completely, and placed a protective, gentle hand on the young boy’s shoulder.

“Do you know who he is?” the billionaire grandfather asked, his ice-cold gaze finally locking onto Beatrice. The weight of his stare made her breath catch in her throat. “He is my grandson. And he is the true owner of this entire establishment.”

Beatrice’s face drained of all color. Her eyes jumped from the silver-haired billionaire to the muddy boy, and finally to the black velvet box—which bore the royal crest of the Vance family trust.

“Sir… I… I didn’t know…” Beatrice stammered, her voice shaking as she took a panicked step backward.

“Escort her out,” the billionaire grandfather ordered the guards, his voice devoid of any mercy. “Her position is terminated. She is banned from this property permanently.”

As the guards dragged a humiliated, screaming Beatrice out into the street, she swore vengeance. She had lost her status, her job, and her dignity in a matter of seconds. But as she looked back at the glittering jewelry store, a dark, desperate plot began to take root in her mind. If she couldn’t belong to the high society by merit, she would take it by force—even if she had to poison her way to the top.
