Chapter 8

The next week was a race against time.

We made offers to every remaining shareholder.

Most agreed immediately, seeing the writing on the wall.

By the end of the fifth day, we reached 51.8% ownership.

We had control.

The moment the transfer was finalized, Father called an emergency board meeting.

When Helen arrived, she saw the new ownership papers laid out on the table.

Her face went from surprise to rage.

“You have stolen this company!” she screamed.

“I have bought it fair and square,” I replied. “With money earned legally, unlike the funds you have been siphoning off for years.”

We presented the full audit report, the evidence from Hale, and the flight records from Daniel and Liana.

The board voted unanimously to remove Helen from all positions and appoint Father as acting chairman.

But Helen did not leave quietly.

She stormed out, shouting threats, and within hours, she launched a new legal challenge.

She claimed the share purchases were made through illegal funds and demanded a court freeze on all company assets.

This was her last big move.

If the court agreed, it would halt all changes and buy her time to dig up anything she could find against us.

The legal battle intensified.

Lawyers worked around the clock.

Documents were filed, refiled, and examined line by line.

Meanwhile, Marcus finally made his choice.

He came to the house and handed over a folder of information.

“I have been listening to both sides,” he said. “And I found something Helen didn’t want anyone to see. Bank records showing she paid the doctor who testified against you, and paid the woman who created the scene outside court. She also paid the man who tried to enter the garden.”

I stared at him.

“You have been gathering this?”

“I had to be sure,” he said. “I didn’t want to believe she was that evil. But the proof is there. I am sorry I doubted you.”

It was a turning point.

With Marcus’s evidence, we could not only defend ourselves but also prove that Helen had been orchestrating a campaign of lies and threats.

But the biggest shock came when we dug deeper into the oldest files.

Buried in records from twenty years earlier, we found something no one expected.

It turned out that Helen’s late husband had not just been Father’s business partner.

He had been embezzling funds from the joint venture, and Father had uncovered it.

When confronted, he had confessed and agreed to return the money—but then died in a car accident shortly after.

Helen had always blamed Father for his death, believing he had arranged it.

But the police report, which we finally found, clearly showed it was an accident caused by drunk driving.

She had spent two decades hating Father, plotting revenge, and destroying lives—all over a lie she had convinced herself was true.

When we sent her a copy of the report, she didn’t reply.

But her legal team suddenly slowed down.

Her arguments became weaker.

We thought we had broken her.

But then, three days before the final court hearing, something happened.

A massive leak hit the internet.

Thousands of documents were released, claiming Father had used his influence to manipulate stock prices, bribe officials, and hide his own past mistakes.

It was a flood of half-truths and lies, but it was enough to cause chaos.

Reporters called.

Business partners paused their agreements.

The case that had seemed clear suddenly became muddy and complicated.

And in the middle of the storm, Helen sent me one last message.

*You thought you had all the answers? You thought you knew the truth? You have only just scratched the surface. And now the whole world will see who your father really is.*
