By the end of the day, the news had already spread across the city.
Headlines were appearing everywhere:
“CEO of Vance Medical Technologies Accused of Domestic Abuse and Financial Fraud”
“Shocking Courtroom Reveal: Wife Exposes Years of Abuse and Hidden Assets”
Julian’s company stock began dropping within hours. Several major board members publicly distanced themselves from him. Investors started pulling out their money.
His perfect empire was cracking right before his eyes.
That evening, I sat in Marcus’s office, exhausted but strangely calm.
“What happens now?” I asked.
Marcus smiled faintly.
“Now we finish what we started. Julian’s reputation is already damaged beyond repair. With the evidence we have, we can push for full custody, a significant financial settlement, and possibly criminal charges for financial misconduct and domestic abuse.”
I nodded slowly.
For a moment, I thought about the woman I used to be — the one who stayed silent, who made excuses for her husband, who believed she didn’t deserve better.
She was gone.
In her place was someone stronger. Someone who had finally decided that her life, and the life of her child, were worth fighting for.
