Chapter 3 - What Really Happened in That Hotel Room

We moved to a private penthouse Alexander kept downtown. It had security, cameras, and no way for anyone to get in without being seen.

Once Sofia was settled in bed with pain medication, Alexander and I sat in the living room. The city lights stretched out below us like a different world.

“She told you everything?” he asked.

“Everything she remembers,” I said. “Carmen brought three other women. They held her down while Carmen slapped her forty times. They kept asking about the condo. When Sofia refused, they got worse.”

Alexander’s jaw tightened.

“What about Javier?”

Sofia’s words still echoed in my head.

“He stayed outside the door. He told his mother not to leave bruises where people would notice.”

Alexander was quiet for a long moment.

Then he said, “That boy just signed his own death warrant.”

I looked at him. “What are you going to do?”

He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and made a call.

“Start digging into every account connected to Carmen Robles and her son Javier,” he said to whoever was on the other end. “I want to know every property, every offshore account, every debt. And I want it by morning.”

He ended the call and looked at me.

“Elena, I need you to understand something. This isn’t just about revenge. Carmen didn’t just hurt Sofia. She tried to steal from her. And she used our daughter’s wedding night to do it.”

I nodded. “I know.”

Alexander leaned forward.

“Then let me finish what she started. Let me destroy her.”

I thought about Sofia sleeping in the next room, covered in bruises on what should have been the happiest night of her life.

“Do whatever you have to do,” I said. “Just make sure she never touches our daughter again.”

Alexander’s eyes met mine.

“She won’t,” he said. “Not when I’m done with her.”
